House to Homestead Update

September 1, 2016

ISe8zccxxurxf00000000000librarymain roomISyv2zkopow40a1000000000I thought it was probably time to give an update about the state of our house-selling project.  Except, sadly, there is no update.  The house is still for sale.

I’d hoped that we would have gotten an offer by now, that we would maybe be close to a signed and done deal, but we haven’t and we aren’t.  We’ve gotten a fair amount of interest, but are so far firmly stuck where we are, 45 minutes away from where we want to be.  Our real estate agent assures me that this time of year there is a normal lull in house buying, and that things usually pick up again after Labor Day.  I suppose we’ll see.  Honestly, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to not have to live in a camper during the cold and miserably rainy winter months, to stay in our warm house, to see our girls through the school year and try again in the spring.

But, then again, Jasper and I are both so impatient and so ready to get this adventure started.  We spend mornings sketching barns and chicken coops, and writing lists of what we want to grow and make and raise.  We are so close to actually realizing this dream that we’ve had for so many years.  We don’t want to wait another fall.  We don’t want to wait another winter.

Unfortunately, wanting and wishing won’t make our house sell, so there is nothing to do but wait.  And want.  And wish.  And wait some more.  So cross your fingers and maybe we’ll have a better update for you next month.
